WHY ME?

Have you ever asked the question-  “Why me?” Most of us would have to admit that we have. Usually we ask it in conjunction with the loss of a loved one, the sudden onset of  a serious or even life-threatening illness,  or some other storm that rocks our lives to the core.  Well, tonite, I am asking “Why Me?” for quite another reason.  Thirty minutes before prayer meeting tonite, we received the news that my one-year CT scan has come back clean.  THANKS TO THE GRACE OF GOD, I CAN NOW CELEBRATE ONE YEAR CANCER – FREE.   Through tears I thanked the Great Physician for His amazing kindness to me, and thought of another  who asked, “Why Me?” In Psalm 8, David said in verses 3-5, “When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?  For thou has made him a little lower than the angels, and has crowned him with glory and honor.”  I wonder what made David stop in his tracks and marvel that the God of the universe thought of him. Though it may be the big life events that  stop us in our tracks in the 21st century and  force clarity on our busy brains– this clarity should make us bow the knee to the Father of Lights and gratefully acknowledge that there is nothing in us that would merit God’s thoughts toward us or His favor, or His grace and mercy, grace and mercy, grace and mercy. I must admit– when I learn of other familiar ones with Double Hit Lymphoma who are not seeing the answer they wanted, and relapse is upon them,  I do ask God, “Why me?” I can only tell myself that He is Good, Perfectly in control of His children’s lives, and He must have work for me to continue here.  So, tonite I will snuggle closer to my wonderful husband, and tomorrow  I will love and serve my family, and see what else God has for me. It is good to be cancer-free.
