Hello Everyone,
Just a quick update for now until Melissa updates you further. The delay between Round 4 and Round 5 (which included the stem cell harvest) did much for Melissa’s spirits and general strength. She went into Round 5 feeling relatively good. However, the stacking effect of all this chemo took its toll pretty quickly and Round 5 has really taken a lot out of her already. she just can’t seem to kick her two-month old cold and is on more antiobiotics to try to keep it out of the lungs. She went in last Thursday morning and got out Monday afternoon. She came home to the church parsonage just in time for a crazy week of Vacation Bible School. It is strange for her to see it all happening and not being a part of it! She has always been so immersed in ministry with me that it is strange for her to be “on the sidelines.” She has always been the one making countless meals for other people and has always taken her role as family cook very seriously. Now she is on the receiving end of this ministry with so many kind cooks meeting our needs. And yet…as you know, she IS continuing to minister from her sick-bed, encouraging us all with her good spirit and trust in the Lord. Thanks again for your prayers and kindness! mark
